Manuel Costescu
Independent Consultant
Manuel Costescu is in his second year as a speaker at the Business Summer School in his native town of Sibiu.
Most recently, Manuel acted as Engagement Manager in the New York office of McKinsey and Company, where he conducted projects across various industries including banking, asset management, media, logistics, and steel in the US, Canada, Germany, and Romania. Example projects include setting up the Wealth Management division for a large North American asset manager, conducting a diagnostic around management practices at a large steel plant, and helping design the emerging market investment strategy for a North American asset manager. Beyond client engagements, Manuel played a leadership role in McKinsey’s proprietary training program for Business Analysts.
Before joining McKinsey, Manuel worked for The Brattle Group, an energy consulting firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he specialized in risk management and hedging strategies in the energy sector. In addition, Manuel worked as an independent consultant on business and development projects in Australia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Peru.
Manuel earned his MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master in International Development from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and a BA in Economics from Brandeis University.
In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, travelling, photography, and skiing. |
