What struck me the most was that although the participants were coming from many countries and belonged to totally different cultures, in the end everyone felt as being part of a big happy family. We still keep in touch and we always have a laugh remembering the wild parties or the sleepy workshops.

Razvan Orasanu
Chief of Staff for the President of the Competition Council

Razvan is now the chief of staff for the President of the Competition Council in Romania, an autonomous administrative body aimed at protecting and stimulating competition in order to ensure a normal competitive environment, with a view towards the consumers’ interests.

Prior to this, Razvan worked as the Senior Advisor on Economic Affairs for the Prime Minister of Romania having key contributions to the Country economic Strategy, the Pre- and Post-Accession Strategies, the Energy Review, the Lisbon Agenda Country Strategy as well as the EU Convergence Strategy. In addition to this, he helped structure Romania’s framework agreements with the World Bank and the EBRD and advised on stand-by loan negotiations with the IMF in 2005.

Before joining the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Razvan was the President of the Authority for State Assets Recovery (AVAS) – the government body specialized in privatization and recovery of assets, where he finalized 82 privatization contracts and forced execution for 59.000 bad debtors to the state budget recovering some $236 million.

Razvan has a BSc in Philosophy and Economics from London School of Economics and Political Science and followed by graduate level courses in 2007, 2008 and 2009 at Harvard University Extension School, Joint Vienna Institute/ European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and International Monetary Fund Institute.
